More quick ideas for phosphate sensitive kids
The following 2 recipes were sent by Sonja Forsberg. Thank you Sonja. Pita chips ( with sour cream) My son loves them for eating at the cinema (minus the sour cream) while other kids are eating popcorn. Brush oil over 2 large rounds of Lebanese/turkish Pita bread (no preservatives) and lightly salt. Sprinkle dried garlic or even rub with half a garlic clove. Pita is quite high in salt when it is made so this is of course optional. Then cut the rounds into corn chip sized triangles and bake in a hot oven for 10 minutes. Keep in an airtight container when cooled. Cheesey Bowties Grate a little cheese between two pieces of frozen pastry. When thawed, cut the pastry into ribbons and then quarters. Take each piece and twist a couple of times in the middle. The high fat content in the pastry makes them a very filling snack and limits the amount of cheese intake to a minimum. These also take around 10 minutes in a hot oven.
If you have a great idea that works for you, please send it to us. All contributions are gratefully reviewed.
