Of all the minerals, phosphate has the most influence on the bodies' pH regulatory system. If the high intake of phosphate is the underlying cause of your child's symptoms, your child's saliva pH will have a reading of 7.5 or above.

The Napier family used litmus paper to measure the saliva pH of their family members.

The reading on the litmus paper shows that 'me' has a pH of approx 7.8, Melissa's pH is 7.5 and Nataya's is 7.0.
Both 'me' and Melissa have alkaline saliva, whereas Melissa's is neutral.
